Wilcox County Elections Supervisor
Annual Salary: Depending on Qualifications

Wilcox County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for an Elections Supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma and five (5) years’ experience in Public Administration, Business Management, or related area; with at least three (3) years supervisory experience. Preference will be given for a Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university, and for Elections and Registration experience.

NATURE OF WORK: Performs specialized and responsible work in preparation for, administering and supervising the conduct of elections, primaries, and registration of electors for the county; and directs and controls all election and voter registration staff personnel. This position serves at the pleasure of the County Manager; reports to the Board of Elections; and will not hold Civil Service status.

SOME OF THE ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES INCLUDE: Ensures current Georgia Election Code and Rules of the State Election Board are exercised to the complete spirit and intent of the law. Plans and oversees conduct of all federal, state, county and city elections in Wilcox County when approved. Plans and organizes voter registration, as well as registration of qualified electors. Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff; processes employee concerns and problems; directs work; counsels, disciplines and completes employee performance appraisals; approves and signs timesheets and payroll records; prepares and submits travel and leave requests; and conducts staff meetings. Directs the recruitment of qualified voters to fill voting precincts.

Establishes local voting sites; plans and institutes division and consolidation of voting districts; works with the Reapportionment Office of the General Assembly in updating and maintaining political districts and subdivisions; maintains, reviews, and updates local election maps; surveys voting precincts to assure compliance with federal law covering availability of adequate handicapped access and voting equipment at each voting site; prepares submissions to the U. S. Justice Department for pre-clearance of changes in election precincts and for special elections as required; meets with GIS staff to ensure accurate assignment of voters and political subdivisions and voting precincts.

Prepares and verifies lists of qualified candidates, amendments and referendums; verifies election districts and precincts to create ballot images for the Georgia Election Management System. Serves as customer service and public relations liaison between other county departments, municipal clerk, candidates and state officials. Prepares and monitors annual budget. Confers with Board of Elections to keep them informed on key issues and progress toward objectives and to gain their support and approval. Prepares and/or directs preparation of reports for the Secretary of State, Finance Department, Information Technology Department, and Board of Elections as required. Works with Information Technology staff in preparing for elections. Performs other related duties as required.
